- BTEC Level 3 Award in Awareness of Dementia (QCF)
Awareness of Dementia assesses learners’ knowledge and understanding of practices in the care of individuals with dementia. This qualification consists of 4 mandatory units which assess learners’ general awareness of dementia care issues; their understanding of administration of medication, the role of communication and the interaction and diversity of individual’s with dementia.
The qualification does not infer competence in a work role but can be used to prepare for employment and as professional development for those who wish to gain knowledge and understanding in this specialist area of practice.
To achieve the BTEC Level 3 Award in Awareness of Dementia (QCF), learners must gain a minimum of 11 credits. To do this they must achieve all of the mandatory units:
Flexible study but could be completed within 4 days.
It is anticipated that learners will progress onto the levels 2 or 3 Diplomas in Health and Social Care or Level 3 Certificate in Dementia Care.
